Political permutations continue to favour Labour Party in Abia State as the Party likely to clinch victory at the much-anticipated change of government in the coming 2023 general elections.
With bottled up angst against the ruling Party (APC) across the South East region for many of the alleged injustices experienced in the region and failure of governance as a result of the ruling party high handedness and negligence on virtually every matters concerning the South East region coupled with existing internal party wranglings and confusions between warring factions in the state and at the center, APC in Abia state do not appear as a Party with formidable platform and contenders whose candidacy with the Party will not end up with multiple complicated litigation against each other that will take down with it anyone who align with any of its warring factions both at the state level and at the center.
More so, with pent-up disapproval of PDP ratings in Abia state and its long term successor mentality without recourse to the people’s choice but few men selecting and ‘anointing’ any individual within their power of manipulation as state governor only for the man to end up serving only the interest of the few at the total destruction of the state and disconnection of the citizens from every gains of governance, the electorates in Abia State has begun to seek for early replacement of alternative political platform that will truly represent the ideals of the state and reposition Abia to its former glory as Nigeria’s SME capital and center of industry and entertainment in the South East region.
In a phone conversation with the interim Publicity secretary, Hon. Njoku SaintJerry A., he declared; “We cannot afford to take chances to gestures – I am aware of the existing principles of Equity Charter and the intended rotation of the governorship to Abia North constituency, it behooves aspirants to study the intrigues within whichever parties they chose to throw in their dice.
A situation where you have multiple candidates from the same region, from the same community all flocking towards Parties whose future remain questionable or worrisome will not bode well for such aspirants, let there be a wise spread and Labour Party is providing the platform for such wise decision for any intelligent and political savvy aspirants who has the capacity to spot the loopholes in the other political parties flaunting itself as old and popular.

Results from the ongoing voters registration and sensitization programme across the 17 LG wards in the state reveals that the people of Abia state, most especially in the Abia North and Central senatorial regions are not prepared to gamble with both APC and PDP any longer as both parties have continuously proved to be unreliable. While APC party executives and members are on many occasions enmeshed in conflicts of personal vendetta, PDP Abia has been abysmally engaged in cult worship of party cabals who do not wish their prized possession of the state government apparatus any better than subjugation and manipulation.
With this kind of provisions in place, such people are not worthy to come to equity with the existing charter” take for instance, PDP has been ruling Abia state for the past 16 years or more yet the state lags behind in virtually all indices of development, therefore it will be foolhardy for any Abia electorates to continue to trust such party or give them his or her votes, said Hon Njoku.
“He who must come to equity must come with clean hands” Both APC and PDP in Abia state do not appear to merit such positions and it will be a waste of resources and energy for aspirants jostling within the corridors of these parties seeking for endorsement when there is a credible alternative political platform with the support of the Abia state electorates to usher in a complete structure of development and governance that is fitting to the traditional foundation of Abia state as a center of Labour, Industry and Productivity – Abia state deserves better and that is what Labour Party has resolved to provide.
