“it’s always a recipe for disaster when a kingmaker elects himself to be made king. And let this sink!
I grew up to believe that Nigeria belong to all Nigerians. Not a particular group, tribe or a few.
Political education also taught me that leadership shouldn’t be given like a gift. It should also not be used as a personal reward or as a benefit for loyalty. It is not right to give leadership to someone as a form of protection of any vested interest.
Looking at our current trajectory, what the country need is a complete re-start.
Yes, Nigeria truly needs to be re-started.
Although, I will be talking about the subject re-start at a later date, but I believe there’s a man from the South-Western Nigeria with strong capacity to restart Nigeria.
That is the man and candidate that I will be campaigning and voting for.
I hate to think that the Nigerian Presidency is gradually becoming a retirement plan and our Presidential Villa the residence and care home of geriatrics.
But as it currently stands, that man in not Tinubu!
I have watched my candidate closely and from my personal analysis, he is cerebral enough to understand the Sorosoke generation and harness their enormous potential for the good of them and that of the nation.
That man has full grasp of what digital technology is all about and how to use same both for governace and in the socio-political and economic eco-space.
The man has proper understanding of the Fintech financial eco-system. This to me is the new future.
I can confidently say that since the 2015 general elections, it is he, that on a few and rare occasions provided flashes of excellence in leadership and had provided a soothing voice when needed.
That man is not a perfect politician but he has demonstrated capacity and competence as an administrator and his cosmopolitanism, I believe, will bring some carriage to our Presidency and increase our respect in the global marketplace.
I hate to think that the Nigerian Presidency is gradually becoming a retirement plan and our Presidential Villa the residence and care home of geriatrics.
I have no doubt that our country is in a bad shape but we should not continue to re-process and re-cycle old men even at the expense of healthier, younger, vibrant and equally cerebral candidates.
I therefore hope, that the godfather will himself, willingly or otherwise, decide to leave the podium for his protege. So that rather than “a long term personal ambition” the nation can thrive under a “national ambition
I have no doubt that our country is in a bad shape but we should not continue to re-process and re-cycle old men even at the expense of healthier, younger, vibrant and equally cerebral candidates.
I hope Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN will run for the presidency so that those flashes of excellent leadership and positive decisions he made when leadership called, can be brought to the benefit of Nigeria with him in the saddle. And the kingmaker can be consulted to provide advise and support wherever needed.
Prof. Yemi Osinbajo SAN does not appear to have “a long term personal ambition to be President” which means that if he runs, it will be on the basis of a genuine desire to lead the people. And I am indeed, one of the admirers of his relentless faith in the endless possibilities of Nigeria and Nigerians. And it is on this basis that I am sold to him becoming our President.
I know that feathers will be ruffled by this piece but before they declare Fatwa, this is not to limit the influence of BAT. In fact, no one can underestimate his numerous political achievements both within Nigeria’s political space and outside of it. In fact, he arguably remains the greatest political figure in his own generation but the problem is; it’s always a recipe for disaster when a kingmaker elects himself to be made king. And let this sink!
I therefore hope, that the godfather will himself, willingly or otherwise, decide to leave the podium for his protege. So that rather than “a long term personal ambition” the nation can thrive under a “national ambition for true cohesion, growth and development”. This is what has eluded us since BAT sold us the present occupant of the seat. While no one is in doubt that there will be avalanche of Presidential declarations, but as these candidates continue to make public their ambitions or dreambitions, however, at some point, the true contenders will be sieved from the pretenders.
