In a statement released by the Honorable Commissioner for Information Mr. Okey Kanu, the Labour party led government of Alex Otti has embarked on 26 projects till date including six completed construction works already commissioned in Aba with the other 20 projects scattered between Aba and Umuahia. This is in addition to other important ongoing road projects.

Notably is the ongoing Ossa Road project that is going to give the capital city a complete facelift. Keeping to the promise of quality governance and timely delivery of projects, the governor was on a sight tour to make sure that at least one lane of the road will be put to use in this Christmas holidays.

Abut a week ago, the governor also conducted a similar inspection of the ongoing works on the Aba Port Harcourt express road where he instructed some commitment from the contractors, CECC, to see to it that at least one lane of the road will be put to use in the yuletide season
“You know the contractors were given a time frame to deliver the projects and they are seriously working towards that timeframe” said the Commissioner
In the coming days, we will be presenting the state’s budget proposals to the State House of Assembly. Also, we are happy to announce that concerted efforts by the minister of education, Prof. Eme Uche, has yielded some dividends regarding the JAMB CBT centers that were shut down in Aba, 10 of them have been reopened and we are promising that by the New Year, a lot more of those closed down centers will be reopened.

By now, it should be a common knowledge that what led to the close down was as a result of issues of infractions during the exams and the authorities concerned has to take drastic actions to avoid reoccurrence. But as a government that believes in doing the right things, we are working to ensure that they don’t lose necessary school time as it were.

Some world class experts and consultants have been engaged by the state government that are partnering with the Minister of Education to drive the reforms in the education sector.
If there is any sector that is most dear to His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, the Executive governor of Abia state, it is the education sector. Therefore, they are working very hard in partnership to carry out the reforms in that sector

The Bulgarian and Polish Ambassador to Nigeria and their team have indicated interest to invest in the education sector therefore the ministry is working very hard to bring to reality some of the reforms that Governor Otti has set in place, the planting and the retrofitting of our model schools in all the 17 AEAs has commenced and it will continue to the end of the year.

The issue of accreditation of ABSUTH continues at pace and is receiving very positive reviews, you know, across board from within and outside the state. And the reasons are very simple. There have been a lot of upgrades in their facilities. They have new faculty, new faculty members. And of course, the general environment of ABSUTH has improved upon. And we believe that at the end of the day, the school will be re-accredited

As we approach the holiday season for end of the year, the Ministry of Health is working in collaboration with Homeland Security to provide ambulance services during the entire season to combat the menace of accidents that are often associated with the excitement of the moment.

The government is not leaving any stone unturned to make the health, public health and security sectors to be up and running all through the season to make sure that anywhere that there is an accident, they will be available to render help. However, we pray that no such things will happen. Said Mr. Kanu
