Alex Otti, Abia State and the Political Party of the neglected

By Chinwe Tonia Nwankwo

“Those who argue about Labour Party and structures fails to understand one fact; Every worker, every business man, students, traders, the civil servants, pensioners and the neglected of the society are all members of Labour party by default.” Njoku Jeremiah Ajike, LP Spokesperson, Abia State

As the race to 2023 gubernatorial elections gathers momentum with candidates receiving certificates of return, the emergence of Labour Party into mainstream Nigeria politics in less than a month and the wide acceptance by the ordinary people, the youths, the working class, artisans, traders and most importantly the neglected of the society continue to give party pundits across the divide sleepless nights.
Alex Otti, the Abia state gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party would be considered among the wisest politicians of the moment in the category of Peter Obi for their timely decisions and deft move that redefined everything politics and their career both at the state and national level.

While the presidential candidate had taken the ultimate decision to switch platform just few days to the primaries, Dr. Alex Otti saw the vision ahead and decided to pitch camp with the working people of Abia state, the students, the traders, business people, pensioners and the suffering neglected civil servants of Abia state.
As the sole gubernatorial candidate of Labour Party, Alex Otti has been positioned to lead the working class and ordinary people of Abia to take back the state for the working people, whom, many, are owed several months of work without pay by those who have held the economy of the state at its jugular, frustrating development and progress of any kind while they live in luxury and self-deceit.

“I can’t imagine the criteria in which every former ruler of Abia state has always ‘anointed’ another crony worse than himself till date, even with the present outgoing administration entrenching a cycle of patronage of failure and redundancy”

In a statement obtained from the spokesperson of Labour Party Abia State Chapter, Comrade Njoku Jeremiah Ajike, he said; “This 2023 gubernatorial election in Abia state is likened to a battle between light and darkness, a battle between two groups of extreme situations – the political elites of Abia state, who erroneously believed that they have arrived at their ultimate end where they cannot be removed and whatever they do or say will be accepted by the people whether they like it or not, even if it means foisting idiots and stooges upon the people as governor and political leaders, it must be accepted and the cycle could only be determined by them even while the state groans under harsh realities of underdevelopment, debts, extreme lack and disrepair, they must continue to have their way.”

However,  I can’t imagine the criteria in which every former ruler of Abia state has always ‘anointed’ another crony worse than himself till date, even with the present outgoing administration entrenching a cycle of patronage of failure and redundancy yet they expect the people of Abia to continue to accept these anomalies,” said Mr. Njoku

“For the benefit of doubt, the other group of extreme situations as I have outlined are the very group of people who make up the structure of Labour Party which a man like Dr. Alex Otti represents, as an economist, an investor and a business man with stark record of achievement in the corporate world of industry and commerce, administration and social responsibilities”

“Abia state do not need the imposition of a civil servant who have been living off on patronage provided by those who ‘anointed’ him at the expense of suffering and neglected people of the state.”

“For goodness sake how can you continue to deprive the workforce that sustains the economy, you owe workers salaries running into months and years even the health workers and education, you owe pensioners, you deny the traders of quality roads and infrastructures at the business centers, you frustrate business people, the very essence of the economy of Abia state, yet you have the gut to ‘anoint’ another individual like yourself to continue in the mess, how can we justify that?” yet the political party where such individual comes from do not see anything wrong with that rather they remain boastful of retaining power and maintaining the underdevelopment and ruin of this beautiful Gods own state. No, that is unacceptable by the people,” said Mr. Njoku

There has been diverse opinion on Labour party having no structures on ground in Abia state nor anywhere in Nigeria to be able to match with the presence of the ruling parties in Abia state.
Njoku Jeremiah countered that in his response, He said; “Those who argue about Labour Party and structures fails to understand one fact; Every worker, every business man, students, traders, the civil servants, pensioners and the neglected of the society are all members of Labour party by default.”

“These are the people that has been at the receiving end of all the bad governance in Abia state, these are the people that are owed salaries for months, schools shut down because teachers are owed, hospital lack infrastructures because the small circle of political elites and their patronage are living off the suffering of the people, they do not produce anything, they do not belong to the corporate world of business and industry where creative thinking is required on how to sustain the economy and create wealth.

“For goodness sake how can you continue to deprive the workforce that sustains the economy, you owe workers salaries running into months and years even the health workers and education, you owe pensioners, you deny the traders of quality roads and infrastructures at the business centers, you frustrate business people, the very essence of the economy of Abia state, yet you have the gut to ‘anoint’ another individual like yourself to continue in the mess,”

Dr. Alex Otti had sustained and created wealth while a CEO at Diamond Bank, he grew the business, he maintains a circle of like-minded individuals in the corporate world of finance, who are all active in commerce and industry.
Abia state do not need the imposition of a civil servant who have been living off on patronage provided by those who ‘anointed’ him at the expense of suffering and neglected people of the state.

They have no vision how to build the state for industry which is the bedrock of Abia, neither do they have the vision on how to improve upon whatever they found that is lacking.”
This is the nightmare Abia people has been living in and it can only be brought to an abrupt end by the people who have remained at the rungs of all the poor economic and social decision of the people they call their leaders and that is what Labour Party is going to do in Abia state – upturn the tables and change the status quo for the benefit of the neglected citizens of Abia State.” Said Mr. Njoku
