“His victory is our victory and the victory of Abia state because Isiugwu Community represents commerce and trade which is the source of every economic development and it’s our prayer that the governor and his Deputy will consider Ohafia as a priority in its development plans because we have the capacity and the means to make their dreams of a new Abia come true – Uchenna Nnaochin” – President, Ohafia Youths, Aba

The Isiugwu Ohafia Community Development Association in Abia State sends congratulations to the winner of 2023 gubernatorial elections LP, Dr. Alex Otti and his Deputy Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu. In a letter addressed to the Governor-elect, Dr. Alex Otti and signed by its Aba branch Chairman, Mr. Okereke Osu, the community believed that this victory will usher in a new development for the people of Abia state and most especially the Isiugwu Community in Ohafia.
Speaking to the Secretary General of the Association, Mr. Okiyi Ukariwe; “Our community is famed for its rice farming known as ‘The Isiugwu rice’ and its land and sea boundaries strategically positioned for exports of agro business to nearby regions as Calabar, Oron, Uyo and as far as Cameroon. In the past, we used to have more than 4 truckload of milled rice depart Isiugwu to the cities every day, also, our fathers has traded agricultural commodities by sea to Uyo and Calabar until the middle 80’s when the rural-urban migration and infrastructure neglect began to divert attentions away from these natural wealth creators and it began to affect our people adversely destroying the huge business of agriculture, therefore, I am very glad for this victory for a man I considered a great leader with the wealth of experience from the corporate industry and a rich background in the financial institution where I am also engaged as a Bank worker.” said Mr. Okiyi.
“The Ohafia indigenes are among the largest community settlers in Aba, said Mr. Uchenna Nnaochin, the President of Ohafia Youths in Aba, also a native of Isiugwu Community.
“We believed in the candidacy of Alex Otti and Ikechukwu Emetu and never had any fears or doubt of his victory, as a matter of fact one of us named Mr. Kingsley Ajike Ukariwe, the MD of Kings Hotel, Isiugwu, organized more than 4 buses to convey people to their various wards in Ohafia during the voting exercise, to show you the level of confidence we had in Alex Otti.”
“His victory is our victory and the victory of Abia state because Isiugwu Community represents commerce and trade which is the source of every economic development and it’s our prayer that the governor and his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu will consider Ohafia as a priority in its development plans because we have the capacity and the means to make their dreams of a new Abia come true.” Said Mr. Uchenna
Speaking to the Labour Party Abia State Publicity Secretary, in Umuahia, Comrade Njoku Jerry Ajike who is also an indigene of Isiugwu Community; He said; “We will be very glad to lead in the economic development of entire Abia North and every other region in Abia State because my community has the capacity to do that. Our Community Leader, HRM Ezeogo Okorie Ukpe Okorie is a man with foresight for development, he has already embarked upon various independent projects that requires government attention before now.
During the election, many people from our communities had travelled as far as from the UK, Abuja, Lagos, Aba even from China to join in this great battle to rescue our dear homeland from the hostage of wicked and fraudulent individuals parading as political rulers under PDP. Today, I am very grateful to God that our efforts were not in vain even when the enemies fought very hard to steal the votes in a very shameless manner, we stood our ground and God gave us victory, this is why we should celebrate ourselves and the man Dr. Alex Otti, whom God has used to bring us this victory.
Abia is Free at last and our community is providing the platforms for every kind of development that will see to the reality of the implementation of the manifesto of our leader Dr. Alex Otti.
Entire Ohafia land is rich for agro business, we have rivers adjoining the seas down to the Atlantic, the fishes in our rivers, white sands, swamps for rice farming and fertile soil are all evidences of what Isiugwu can offer immediately government is ready to engage us.
More than that, there is so much more we can do with our little resources therefore we are using this medium to request the attention of our Governor and his young Deputy Ikechukwu Emetu to consider us and every other community that shares similarities with us and are strategically placed to open up Abia state for commerce, trade and industry.” Said Mr. Njoku.
