Ohafia South under the Abia North constituency in Abia state has had the rare privilege of enjoying the imprints of quality representation by the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) at the central law-making body culminating in establishment of divers’ infrastructure project, notably a road network linking to the villages and the state capital, promoted and supervised by the leadership of the Abia North APC led senatorial district.
However, bringing inclusive development home to the grassroots is where the 26 villages under the state constituency have continued to face daunting challenges and deprivation.
As runner-up to the 2023 general elections continues to produce candidates vying for several leadership positions, Chief. Dike Okoro Uche, CEO, Wealth Partners Ltd, and Chairman of De Trump Hotels, Ohafia has vowed to lead quality representation and constructive development in entire Ohafia south once elected into office.
Speaking from his country home in Isiugwu Ohafia, Chief Dike Okoro frowned at the paucity of government presence in Ohafia despite the inclusion of the region at every state budgetary allocation.
People has been made to erroneously believe that there is none or lean provision at the centre for regional development of state constituencies like us, whereas every part of the state is adequately captured on matters relating to health, education, social amenities, roads and other basic infrastructure affecting the welfare of the people of the state.
As a business man who has established businesses in Ohafia, the realities of underdevelopment and poor representation of issues that affect the people of Ohafia mostly has remain veiled under the cover of individual magnanimity to the people – Generosity is a virtue I appreciate so much but that should remain on individual basis and should not becloud what the people are meant to enjoy from the state by right of inclusion.

There are matters affecting the people of our constituency that should be addressed by the executives of the state, there are provisions in the state judiciary that the people are entitled to by right and not by privilege, in situations where representatives of previous administration has presented certain amenities as an act of generosity to the people and not as a duty enshrined by law will only create false impression of neglect and exonerates the state and its authorities from providing adequate development and this is where I have serious concern on issues affecting people of my constituency in Ohafia South. It is my duty to ask for what belong to us from the state allocations and not to defend the denial of my constituency from such statutory provisions.

My election as Member of the State Assembly is going to address many of these anomalies so that people in authority will not continue to treat matters affecting people of Ohafia South as second fiddle. This is not acceptable!
More so, there is the need for synergy with representatives of Ohafia people at the Federal Level and this is where my candidacy under All People Congress (APC) and victory has become paramount because the people spearheading the little, we are enjoying at the moment are all members of my party, therefore every issue affecting us is going to be addressed from the grassroots to the state up to the central law-making body as a collective responsibility.
