“Abia State is a peculiar example of what Nigeria as a country stands to gain when the wishes of the people are respected at the end of every electoral cycle, As the ruling party, it is obvious to state that the good things happening in Abia today that has endeared our state to the world is because of the presence of Labour Party and the role we have played in bringing this great government under the leadership of H.E. Governor Alex Otti, into existence”
The leadership of Labour Party Abia, has called on Nigerians and members of the party, supporters and friends in Abia State to take advantage of the great memories June 12 brings in the history of Nigeria democratic dispensation and unite forces to continue to promote and respect the wishes of the people to elect their leaders for the interest of a society of justice and fairness to all concerned.
The party has enjoined every member across the 184 Wards to join forces with the leadership of the party at the center to bring true dividends of democracy to the people.
Speaking to group of journalists who paid him a visit in his office in Aba, Dr. Prince G.O Ndubueze said;
“Abia State is a peculiar example of what Nigeria as a country stands to gain when the wishes of the people are respected at the end of every electoral cycle, then it also behooves on the leaders elected on the wishes of the people to honor their campaign promises and pay genuine attention to those requirements that will see to the existence of a harmonious society especially on matters bothering on security and infrastructural development.”
“I want to believe Abia State Labour party has played its role by giving the right candidates their tickets to go and represent the people right from the State Governor to the National and State House of Assembly, now it is left to the candidates once elected to give that same due honor to the party for giving them that trust and the platform to vie for the positions they are occupying today.”
“As you can see, everything about Democracy bothers on the interest of the people and their environment; these are two inseparable principles of the Labour Party, you cannot focus on one and avoid the other, both goes hand in hand, as the Igbos used to say; ‘You do not clap with one hand’, both are symbiotic.”
“My message to the Presidency under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the state Governors is that they should lead Nigeria with fairness, justice and equity, the Presidency should take advantage of this historic moment to look into the administration of Justice in the Judiciary which has continued to serve as the last hope of the ordinary people and their leaders in any democratic system.
The Judiciary should not been seen by the Nigerian people as a tool of promoting judicial rascality among the judges, people appointed or elected into any office should serve with the fear of God and be very concerned about being upright in judgment”
“Political leaders should respect the Rule of Law and not be seen as people promoting impunity; they should not use their office to oppress the opposition voices and the masses”
So much has been spoken on the removal of the subsidy but our humble prayer is that let Nigerians feel the positive impact of the petroleum subsidy removal. The Lawmakers both at the National and State House of Assembly should be proactive and remember that in a situation where the people you are representing are seeing you as a rubber stamp to the President or Governor is not considered as quality representation. Laws should be made to represent the interest of the electorates that voted you into Power. And to our religious leaders, my only advice is that we should remain prayerful and continue to seek God’s divine intervention on the leadership of our country and the security situations, Nigerian youths should continue to be hardworking and law abiding.”
Dr. Ndubueze, speaking on the situation in the party admitted the crisis situation however he said;
“At the moment, our effort is concentrated on harmonizing the leadership situation in the party and moving forward; anybody working against that approach in my best judgment do not mean well for the party.”
“If any election is conducted today with the participation of Labour Party, the question will be, under whose leadership? Let’s take the position of INEC on the coming Anambra State gubernatorial election for example, The Independent National Electoral Commission,(INEC) has repeatedly till today, on its platform continue to emphasize on its statutory position as regarding the leadership of political parties, Labour Party inclusive, while the Judiciary has clearly made its positions known on the situation of leadership of political parties and its internal operations.”
“These are clear positions by institutions of authority in the country yet certain individuals are allegedly bent on thwarting these positions by every means including deceiving members of the public on what is not obtainable.”
“Going forward, I want to use this special occasion of our Democracy Day anniversary to plead with all concerned to sheathe their swords and anger and lets come together to salvage this great party. Like I used to say, ‘Where there is justice and fairness, there is every tendency to offence, likewise there is no unpardonable offences’
“As the ruling party in Abia State today, it is obvious to state that the good things happening in Abia today that has endeared our state to the world is because of the presence of Labour Party and the role we have played in bringing this great government under the leadership of H.E. Governor Alex Otti, into existence and it is our prayer that the good things the Almighty God has brought to us here in Abia through our hard working governor will reach out to all concerned including those of us in the leadership of the party.”
“Finally, taking a lesson from the holy book, the Bible, it says; ‘How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony’ and when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved, we cannot afford to continue in the wrong interpretation of constitutional provision that have been designed to guide and sustain us as people of different interests, capabilities and ideas.”
“Having started on a good note with the right leadership in government, I am very confident of what the future holds for every member and supporter of the party in Abia State, it is bright and very promising. And I want us to key into that”
Thank you and God bless every Abia State Indigenes, Residents and our Friends, God Bless Nigeria and our Leaders!
FORWARD EVER!!!
