Any other coalition is repeating history the coalition we need is one of the oppressed.

Sowore’s Sensational Stand: “No, I am not joining any coalition…” – A Fiery Rejection of 2025’s Political Déjà vu!

In a blistering denunciation of Nigeria’s recurring political maneuvering, former AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore leveled scathing critiques against those seeking to recreate the 2013 coalition that birthed the APC. He declared,

“No, I am not joining any coalition. The coalition formed in 2013 and 2014 gave us the APC. Forming another coalition in 2025 is simply repeating history—doing the same thing and expecting different results”

Emphasizing his unwavering belief in grassroots resistance, he continued,

“The coalition we need is one of the oppressed. That’s the only coalition I believe in”

Sowore further lambasted the idea of aligning with the same forces that he argues have long betrayed Nigerian interests, warning,

“Joining hands with the same people who created the mess we’re in is an insult to Nigerians. I’m not joining the SDP. I’m not aligning with any political party that’s been complicit in Nigeria’s failures”

Refusing to legitimize the 2023 general elections, he warned voters against accepting what he calls a farce:

“I’ve said repeatedly—even on your platform—that we did not have an election in 2023. You can’t lose an election that didn’t happen”

“It was a selection. Nobody can defeat a person selected in a game that was never played”

Drawing a vivid analogy with a botched football match, he posed the critical question,

“Imagine going to watch a football match and the referee announces at the beginning that the match won’t hold as planned. Only one team is available to play. After ninety minutes, they declare a winner. Would you accept that result?”

He also lambasted government policies by underscoring that flawed decisions aren’t “hard decisions” at all, stating,

“No hard decision was taken. People who don’t know what to do are calling their poor decisions ‘hard’ in the hope that you’ll accept them”

“It’s just like Trump claiming that tariff decisions were for the people’s benefit. Meanwhile, thousands protested across over 1000 cities — and no one was tear-gassed”

In his unrelenting critique of the ruling administration’s track record, Sowore warned,

“Here, we’re told we’re on the right path. But the only decision this administration has made is to destroy the lives of its citizens. So don’t be deceived.

These people are looting and misleading you. They’re dragging the country onto a perilous path. Take your country back”

He recounted the promised miracles that have instead culminated in soaring costs and dashed hopes, asking,

“They said these decisions would result in better roads, better schools, student loans. But what has actually happened? The naira went from ₦400 to ₦1,566 per dollar. Tariffs increased. Data now vanishes faster than ever. Who is benefitting?”

Defiantly positioning himself as a lone crusader for Nigerian liberation, he asserted,

“I’m not playing chess with the destiny of the Nigerian people. Yes, I’m running solo — but I never stop running. I’m probably the only candidate who is constantly out on the streets, standing for what I believe in”

“When Nigerians finally have enough of this suffering, they will rise. And then you’ll see—the real power lies with the people”

Concluding with a call for transformative politics, Sowore dismissed the prevalent political status quo:

“The climate where politicians keep switching parties without changing their character is not one I subscribe to. That’s your political climate — not mine. There’s another way: the politics of liberation. That is the only path to ending corruption!”
