The political spectrum is a regular vicious cycle of influencers, sycophants, and hanger-on of sets of political opportunist without vision or any practical solutions to those socio economic nightmares bedeviling the society
Recently there has been an ongoing social media beef led by a certain self acclaimed one man opposition and critic of the Otti’s government, the man certainly had struggled very hard to pull attention of discredit of the Otti’s led Labour party government of good governance, unfortunately, to no avail.
I would have spared the former Abia State Commissioner of finance under the ousted Okezie Ikpeazu’s failed government if he had been a layman in politics, However, he is well versed in the business of Nigeria’s political structure likewise his followers and others who have effortlessly struggled in the early days of the Otti’s government, to pull the wool over the people for the umpteenth time.
‘Once bitten” the wise teacher taught us, “Twice Shy” Unfortunately, Abia people has been bitten more than once by criminals dressed in suits and starched Aba tailored linen, parading as politicians, Professionals with Phd’s and sometimes Prof. with one sole aim – lead the people and the state to the garbage, impoverish them so much that families, friends and foes will live perennially confused and divided analyzing and defending your failures and incompetence in positions of authorities.
Such were the former political situation in Abia state before the emergence of the Otti’s led Labour Party government and the new leader was quick to adopt a nomenclature that will clearly define his mission; The New Abia. A journey off the regular political cycle of neglect, fraud and deception
In a regular political circle, everything is defined within the context of provisions of personal interest and an almost cultic adherence to the rules of give ‘n’ take, an act itself considered honorable but most despicable among thieves occupying honorable positions of authority.
Abia state was held under such captivity for decades so much that a young man born 24 years ago had in error arrived at such conclusions of accepting abnormal and criminal behaviors as a culture in Abia State politics.
A systemic stealing of the people’s common welfare and leaving the state and its people to starve and rot in environmental decay and unproductive,
A “give n take” systemic political situation restricted within the stakeholders, praise singers and idiots whose sole interest do not and must not exceed a self conceit in luxury, sitting astride in over lavished offices in the midst of filth, reeling out orders and mocking the people you claim to love so much.
This was the Old Abia. Perhaps you have read as many analyses by those folks running amuck on social media platforms struggling to point out to the Otti’s led labour party government where they have failed and may fail the more in their wildest wish, Do not be swayed by their sudden love for the state and its people. They were simply locked out and had been wailing ever since, some had relocated to Abuja, Enugu etc from where they cry wolf while Otti and his team get busy rebuilding the mess they found of Abia when they arrived.
Perhaps they meant well in acting as watch-barking dogs codenamed ‘opposition’, the truth remains that this government, under the leadership of Gov. Alex Otti and Labour party meant business of overhauling the entire system of rot and unproductiveness to a New Abia of Hope and center of commerce, and a home of industry and positive culture.
Abia has never had it so good and a development template intricately defined; a government for the people in practice. This is completely off from your regular Nigerian political spectrum and those of us who are completely alien to such treatment and approach certainly must find it strange but what did the leader of the New Abia said;
In an excerpt of a speech he presented at the flag off ceremony of a 12.6 Kilometer Road and another 5.5 Kilometer road leading towards the capital city driving from Imo State and there are many of such virtually every week.
H.E. Governor Alex Otti said; “Without understating the place of politics in our general development aspirations, I am, however, bold to say that the true spirit of this land cannot be defined by the political leanings and appetites of a few elites. Our strength as a people lies in the disposition of our common people, the zeal to wake up each morning with a sense of duty to family and community”
This is the six figure dice of the new Abia, A sense of commitment, sincerity and duty to provide for families looking up to you, the leader, whether you be the Mayor, Commissioner, Member of Parliament, Deputies, Chief Of Staff and SA’s, whatever your political positions and leaning, unless the people and their community plays a priority role in your list of responsibilities, you cannot be part of the journey to the New Abia. This is what the Labour Party government under the leadership of Gov Alex Otti is busy doing and until the foundation of the new Abia is fully established, we will continue to work while rabble rousers will continue to talk and analyse.
