It began with the presentation and signing into law, the 2025 budget of the Abia state government under the Labour Party led leadership of H.E. Gov. Alex Otti.
A presentation Otti titled “Sustaining the Momentum’ in a speech he delivered at the floor of the State House of Assembly, where about 82% of the entire budget outlay will be channeled into capital projects in order to continue in the long-term drive of socioeconomic transformation of the State.
The ‘momentum’ depicting a continuous engagement in those activities and delivery of campaign promises that has kept every political state actors of Abia state origin on their toes and buoyed citizen’s awareness of the kind of governance Abia people had earnestly desired and prayed for in those locust years.
Otti simply stated the obvious, a continuous ‘building on the momentum that had already been recorded in the last 19 months or thereabout since his administration assumed office. This is the magic and it is yielding desired fruits.
The other day after Christmas 2024, I was at the famous Aba-Port Harcourt Road, one of the landmark signature project of the Otti’s Government, that is almost due to be commissioned and I dared to conduct a mock opinion on what the residents in the area think about the Labour party led government. The response was an overwhelming endorsement for continuity, some residents made extra effort to show me properties previously abandoned by owners whom are returning to Aba in droves for a new life rebuilding from the ruins of yesterday made possible by certain state political actors that failed to see reasons to prioritize on the functionality of the environment and the people’s welfare for a sustaining economy.
All over Abia state today, there are ongoing construction activities beginning from the State capital where entire Umuahia town, beginning from virtually all the government facilities and public infrastructure including business centers are being pulled down for something new and aesthetically beneficial
Now, it’s barely two weeks into the year 2025, a journey into the 2nd year of the Otti’s administration.
Ex Governor, Orji Uzoh Kalu (APC) is visiting Gov Alex Otti for the umpteenth time, to commend his great achievements and had admonished others to join suit, Senator Enyinnanya Abaribe (APGA) visited recently to give fillip to what Gov Otti is doing in the New Abia, Senator Nkechi Nworgu (APC) was there during the Christmas holidays and it marked her first visit to a sitting governor in Abia State, she is thrilled at the level of transformation in her homeland, she was at Gov. Otti’s residence, also to give fillip to what the Labour Party led government of Alex Otti is doing.
Between the year 2023 and 2024, Former Senate President Adolphus Wabara had shuttled between PDP and now the ruling APC at the center, irrespective of his juggling political platforms between the PDP and APC, Wabara was among the first to give Gov Otti the nod, and has remained confident in Otti’s performance, endorsing the Labour Party led government under Gov Otti for a second coming here in Abia State.
Chief Dan Chimezie Okeke, APC Federal House of Rep candidate for the 2023 elections who gave Hon Ibe Okwara (LP) a run for his ticket is today on front row to receive Gov. Otti in a reception encompassing all APC political stakeholders and followers under his wings in Arochukwu, “Nobody but Otti for the second coming” Dan had enthused as he gave a royal hosting at his home.
Now the list is becoming extensive and inexhaustible with another PDP Chieftain, Chief Emeka Kalu, open endorsement that certainly did rustle the nest of those scavengers of Abia patrimony now perpetually relinquished to the oppositions.
PDP published a disclaimer on Chief Kalu statement, but who cares, PDP’s fate in Abia future gubernatorial appeared permanently sealed as nobody in Abia state today will ever pray to see the rogue characters that made up the party hierarchy again.
Deputy Speaker Rt Hon. Benjamin Kalu may have dismissed Labour Party second coming, sometime ago in a careless media hyped offside jiving, However, these visits and several others has not hold back true confessions by every Abia State political pundit that the Labour Party led government of Alex Otti has certainly lived up to its expectations by producing a Germaine political leadership template only found in Abia, such that Nigeria and every state has passionately yearned for, a leader with the genuine interest to build and invest in his people and their homeland.

This is the magic wand the Labour party has introduced into the Nigeria elitist political system that promotes a hedged circle of elites and cronies that takes pride and console itself in the suffering and economic frustration of the average Nigerian perhaps to prepare a soft ground for the continuous manipulation of the ordinary people for the benefit of the few.
It is needless making a sermon on what the Labour Party under Gov Otti has done in Abia State, you do not need a magnifying glass to see the New Abia in existence and still growing every day, every hour and every moment.
You only need to visit Aba and judge the scenery yourself. Those guys on the pages of social media singing off-keys under the guise of ‘Opposition Choirmasters’ knows too well they are lying but sure have to justify the paymaster.
I have read of indigenes from Abia State praising Gov. Peter MBA of Enugu State to high heavens and dissing on their own Gov Alex Otti, the leader of the New Abia, Do Abians lose sleep over the ignorance and foolishness of a few ‘Hallelujah boys’ in adult frame?, I doubt.
Peter Mba and Alex Otti are in a race, no doubt, and the focus remain the same, running to establish a working people-oriented government in the South East region to the envy of every other State Governor in the federation, their pace are incomparable, Moreover, the level of support Gov Otti has enjoyed from all political state actors within and outside his region is a clear testament of a leader committed to the call of duty, this is achievable under the Labour party people-oriented template of governance
However, as long as the doctrine of free speech in a careless world still exist, individuals are at liberty to choose where their interest flows but to spite on a Leader with the level of endorsement the Labour Party Leader has enjoyed for rebuilding Abia from its woeful past under same shameless characters running their foul mouth on social media space, amount to self ridicule.
You only help the world to see how dumb and silly behaviors you have adopted over those years of retrogression Abia suffered under criminal political State actors, the journey Abia has begun on the platform of Labour Party shall continue to serve as signpost to a future of the God’s own state we had earnestly prayed and hoped for.
