With the delayed announcement of the sale of forms by various political parties listed to participate in the scheduled LG elections for 2nd November 2024, residents and citizens of Abia continue to express apprehension at what lies ahead for the government of the grassroots.
More so, with the renewed sense of quality leadership extended to virtually all the 17 LGs by appointees of the Otti’s led Labour Party government baptized ‘Mayors’, it is even more worrisome, the fear to lose those reorganized administrative systems and rebuilt infrastructures of the seat of government at the local councils by the Transitional Chairmen to perhaps, an incompetent ‘man of the people’, whose sense of politics may differ from the direction of proponents of the new Abia, and perhaps, taking the communities back to the old order of dysfunctional local administrative systems that mistook the local councils as center of graft and deception, trapped in the hands of arrogant and underperforming ‘man of the people’ guarding the LG councils only to appease a circle of friends and loyalists at the detriment of the New Abia that has opened a new door of brighter future to the state and its residents.
Perhaps this concern has given credence to the position of the leader of the New Abia, H.E. Gov Alex Otti to make sure that only credible men and women suitable for the job of rebuilding the state from the grassroots to Umuahia, the seat of power are elected into office of government at the Local Councils.
To calm the fears of apprehensive Abians, I consider it a sense of duty to announce to the good people of the state that both the governor and the ruling party remain resolute in their commitment to establish the kind of leadership that has repositioned Abia in today Nigeria socio-political economy down to the grassroots level, therefore as justified as the sense of apprehension may appear by some circle of individuals it cannot shift our focus for a credible LG elections where only individuals tested and proven to carry on with the doctrine of the New Abia should be allowed into the foray of governance.
The rumours of any imposition of candidates in the forthcoming LG elections shall remain what it is; ‘a rumour’ baseless albeit swift but with no atom of truth.
Labour Party and the victory with good governance that we are enjoying in Abia today was made possible by the ordinary people who has for over the decades yearned for a leader like H.E. Gov. Alex Otti who will guide us in all sense of wisdom and prudent leadership both in the socio-economic and political situations that once held Abians down in filth and retrogression.

This is the kind of leadership we are set to replicate at the local councils and doing that by applying every sense of caution both during the primaries, the screening and overall conduct of the LG elections.
Therefore, Let all men and women of voting rights who have made this good governance we are all enjoying today possible to be rest assured that it is the Labour party members through their delegates that will nominate the party candidates.
Moreover, as everyday in Abia State continues to witnesses a new feature in its infrastructure development, responsible administrations and politics under the leadership of the Labour Party led Gov Otti Government, We are determined to replicate that at the local councils and it behooves every citizen and residents in this God’s own state to see reason to exercise patience with the leadership of the party to do things right for the benefit of all concerned.
Rest assured, the old system of political situations in Abia State is dead and buried and Abia repositioned to do things right in a manner that will continue to earn every member of this God’s own state a sense of pride
We want to sustain that momentum that have brought Abia to the limelight in today Nigeria despite the hardship and deception of certain political state actors, we want to make sure that the infrastructural development and quality leadership begun by the Labour party government under the leadership of governor Alex Otti administration is sustained at the local councils, therefore it behooves both everyone of us and our supporters to jettison all sense of apprehension and believe in the wisdom of the leadership of the party to conduct a very credible LG election that will bring out the best among us and not those that will remind us of the filths and regrets of yesterday that we have overcome under this great Labour party administration.
