NNPP is dead in Abia as 2023 Guber Candidate and entire structure collapse into Labour Party

Accompanied by leaders of the New Nigerians People’s Party in Abia Dr. Ukpai Iro Ukpai disowns the party that gave him the platform to run as Gubernatorial candidate in 2023

Leading the defection is the 2023 Abia State Gubernatorial Candidate, Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai, his running mate, the state Coordinator, David Urum, State Working Committee SWC, all contestants of the Party in the last general election as well as leaders and stakeholders.

In his speech, Ukpai Iro Ukpai said they were endeared to LP because of the leadership style of the State Governor, Alex Otti whom he said has put smiles on the faces of Abians.

He noted that the defection was to consolidate their support for the ruling party in the State having pledged their loyalty to the Governor since inception of his administration.

He maintained that their moving into Labour would enable them join hands with the government of the day to move the State forward.

Receiving the defectors into the Labour Party fold, Governor Alex Otti in company of the State Acting Chairman of Labour Party, Sir Emma Nweze Otti, assured them of equal rights and privileges with other members of their new found hope, noting that the Party does not discriminate against.

The Governor while thanking the 2023 Gubernatorial Candidate of NNPP Dr Ukpai Iro Ukpai for his continued support to his administration, said he is focused in attending to the welfare of Abians who have suffered untold hardship due to maladministration of the past.

He used the forum to announce that he has commenced the payment of arrears of salary amounting to 18 billion naira owed some institutions in the state by previous administrations.

The Governor explained that the arrears will be defrayed in a 12-month instalment through monthly release of 1.5 billion naira which started this month.

In their separate speeches, the Coordinator of NNPP in Abia State Mr David Orum declared in excitement and said; “Today there is no more NNPP in Abia State, I am the leader and I pronounce it authoritatively, NNPP is no more in Abia, while the Deputy governorship candidate to Dr. Iro Ukpai Iro, Bar. Chiedozie Josiah said; “We have never seen such a leader as Alex Otti – “being so close to you I have tapped anointing of going forward, we thank you for what you’re doing in Abia Sta

” He said enthusiastically.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Hon. Iheanacho Obioma and Acting State Chairman Labour Party, Sir Emmanuel Oti said that Governor Alex Otti has through purposeful leadership made Labour Party attractive for all as both Party leaders engaged in the presentation of Labour Party flag to the new members, in company of members of tge SWC of Labour Party in Abia State.
