Since the administration of the President Tinubu era, threats of Igbo eviction from the city of Lagos have been growing with the silence of the Yoruba political elites giving credence of silent support to the insults and ethnic profiling of the Igbo people in Lagos.
A drama ensued in the outskirts of Lagos osn Friday when a resident of Prayer Estate, somewhere along the Amuwo Odofin area guided a bulldozer to his own house and ordered the driver to bring entire structure down.
Neighbours were jostled at the sight of a Bulldozer maneuvering its way and advancing towards the one storey building located towards the edge of the canal overgrown with shrubs.
The house owner, an Alaba Electronics market based business man refuse to give any journalist audience but on close observations it appears his frustration could be connected to the recent threats by Yoruba urchins across the social media and now across Igbo dominated areas in Lagos to evict and destroy business centers belonging to Igbo people in Lagos until they frustrate them out of Lagos.
Since the administration of the President Tinubu era, threats of Igbo eviction from the city of Lagos have been growing with the silence of the Yoruba political elites giving credence of silent support to the insults and ethnic profiling of the Igbo people in Lagos.
Sources close to the man narrated how he had complained bitterly of finding it hard to sale the house because majority of the Potential Buyers turned out to be fellow Igbos in Lagos like himself, the man voiced out that instead of transferring the burden to another Igbo man, he rather destroy the house and auction his properties.
His neighbours narrated how many of them have been facing harassments from urchins they can feed and clothe only to turn around and be threatening them with eviction, “Those threats or rants cannot be mere talks, from the silence of many of the Yoruba political leaders especially in Lagos to such embarrassing ethnic bigotry, it appears they know what they are doing so instead of them inheriting anything from any Igbo man as they are dreaming we will destroy it with our own hands. Said a man who claimed to be residing in the neighborhood
Perhaps this is what has happened today as the man decided to pull down the house by himself to the shock of residents in the neighborhood.
