At least five governors and eminent Nigerians have indicated interest to attend the December 9 burial of the late Union Bank chair, Elder Dr Kalu Uke Kalu who died in Enugu Friday October 20, ,2023 at 88.The burial will take place at the deceased home town, Isiugwu Ohafia between Friday December 8 and Saturday December 9, 2023. There will be a service of songs for the deceased by the Presbyterian Church, Uwani, Enugu, on December 7, 2023.
The late Kalu was a banker, leading economist, corporate chieftain, community leader, academic, philanthropist, mentor etc.
Some of the governors expected are the Abia state governor, Dr Alex Otti, who has promised some palliative work on the Isiugwu Ohafia road.
Others are Prof Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state, the Enugu state governor, Mba, the Cross River State governor, etc.
Former Labour party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi is also expected, along some former ministers such as Dr Kalu Idika Kalu, diplomat Dr Uma Eleazu, lawyers, industrialists, bankers etc.
Many friends and families of the late KUK have indicated readiness to give a befitting burial for the Igbo chieftain and accountancy icon.
