The Ongoing report by the incoming government of LP, Alex Otti’s transition committee on poor cooperation from the government of Okezie Ikpeazu smacks off an act of sabotage and gross negligence.
We learned that there have been series of allegedly deliberate delays in availing necessary handover documents to members of the transition committee according to a statement issued by Rev. Fr. Christian Anokwuru during an interview with newsmen in Umuahia
I have struggled endlessly to understand why an outgoing government and its supporters will be this bent on frustrating the incoming government and deliberately laying landmines of anticipated failures for its successor.
I don’t’ understand why would the PDP led government of Okezie Ikpeazu chose to bid Abia people farewell with more problems despite all its years of woes and poor scorecard in governance.
I have taken a tour of the capital town of Umuahia and some areas in Aba and seeing this mountain of garbage abandoned at dump sites constituting such an eyesore and I wondered what happens to the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA)
I have heard of, and reported looting of government properties from supporters of the outgoing government without any objection from the Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu defeated PDP led government.
As I write, there are series of documents of grafts with a recent one flying in the public domain from the ministry of works that recently authorized a payout of over 71 Million Naira to a certain Acho Nwakama, a relation to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for nonexistent construction job in Isiala Ngwa area.
It baffles me that individuals who claimed to have done well in government would descend this low in acts capable of undermining the business of development and continuity in whatever good they claim to have done for people of Abia state.
Take for instance the scheduled LG elections just few days to the expiration of this government, the sudden rearrangement of leadership of Local Government Workers and Staff Union even when their tenure is yet to expire by September 2023. What about the sudden employment racketeering where the Okezie Ikpeazu government is said to have employed over 2,000 workers overnight and distributed them in various ministries, even collecting money from ignorant members of the public to offer them juicy employment in government establishments that are not backed by any policy if government.
The outgoing governor cannot continue to claim ignorance of these criminal activities that are bound to be called to question at the appropriate time especially when his aides and Halleluya boys continue to go online to defend every of their actions as merited.
These individuals need to be reminded that governance is nobody’s properties but an investment entrusted in the care of elected members of the public. Once your tenure is over, you must leave and create room for development to continue. Anything short of this amounts to crass criminality and foolishness.

This attitude of Okezie Ikpeazu and his hordes or Halleluya choristers should not be tolerated by people of Abia state and should they continue in this brazen criminality, we will not hesitate to institute legal actions against them and their supporters at the appropriate time. If they are wise as they so claim in all their Phd, they should understand that the business of negligence and stealing from the ordinary people of Abia to lavish it on luxury and amoral lifestyles is over and a new sheriff is in town.
