What Tinubu told the first lady about Alex Otti

By Miracle Chukwunenye

“My husband told me that Alex Otti is a very good man.”

‎Those were the words of the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during her visit to Abia yesterday for a civic engagement with Akwete textile women.

‎The First Lady’s visit to Abia was historic. It was one of a kind, a visit that made history.

‎It is not every day that the First Lady of Nigeria shows such interest in supporting a local textile industry like Akwete, and beyond her visit, she backed that support with ₦2 billion.

‎But one thing stood out the most. She was neither compelled nor persuaded to come. She disclosed that she was watching a video of the Akwete textile on NTA and initially thought it was a Ghanaian fabric until she made enquiries and discovered it was actually produced in Abia State.

‎That discovery sparked her interest in visiting Abia. As First Lady, however, there were protocols and arrangements that had to be made.

‎In the course of those preparations, her husband, the President asked her where she was going, and when she replied, “Abia,” his immediate response was: “Alex is a good man, a very good man.”  Underscore the word “very”

‎Hear me, Governor Alex Otti is not in the APC; he is in the Labour Party, while the President belongs to the APC. But being “a very good man” transcends party lines. It transcends political affiliation and position of authority.

‎When you’re good, you’re good.

‎The number one citizen of the country has joined the legion of opinions saying that Alex Otti is a very good man.

‎The President has had a relationship with Dr. Alex Otti long before the corridors of power, so I can bet that he knows that Alex Otti has been a good man.

‎But Governor Alex Otti has proven beyond just being good, by bringing the good tidings he has always been known for, lifting Abia from the shackles of underdevelopment to the national stage in just three years, to the extent that all eyes are now on Abia.

‎That is why the President doesn’t just believe Otti is the good man he has always known; he now believes he is a ‘very’ good man.

‎The President’s verdict on Otti is the verdict of many, including those making noise from the background that they are contesting against him.

‎They all know he is a very good man. They are only filling the vacuum in their respective political parties, but the truth is that they recognize the goodwill Otti enjoys among Abians hence they won’t risk investing huge in campaigns.

‎For Ndi Abia, the hope is that Governor Alex Otti, the very good man, will continue his good works through 2031.

My brother, when you are good you’re good abeg!
