There is a big difference between contesting and running for an elective position.
To contest or contesting means you must be called by the people based on what you have done.
To run or running for a position means that you just decided to be a part of any process or elections without the people’s concern. Just like Eric Opah is doing. The running candidate Have to be decided or named by the party’s godfathers.
Eric Opah is running for the governorship position of Abia State. Opah is a greenhorn in the game of politics, he hasn’t contested or held any political office in the past, he has never been tested nor proven politically, he has not even carried the ‘bag of politics’ so his entrants to run for the governorship position of Abia State is experimental.
Alex Otti carried his own bag of politics in 2015, he learnt his lessons and started building his own political structure by himself and in 2023 he became the governor of Abia State.
Many believe that Eric Opah has come to carry his own bag of politics; he will learn his lessons after 2027 election.

The truth is that, despite all attempts by detractors/opposition parties to derail Dr. Alex Otti’s administration, he has chosen to focus on governance, public infrastructure projects, and the welfare of his citizens.Throughout his tenure, Governor Alex Otti has emphasized a “Abia First” agenda and has continued to commission road networks, construct hospitals, and focus on healthcare and civil service reforms.
Just recently, Dr. Alex Otti commissioned 14 newly completed road projects in a single day across Aba and its environs, as part of an aggressive urban renewal drive.The landmark commissioning event covered critical areas in Osisioma, Aba North, and Aba South Local Government Areas to ease traffic, restore urban mobility, and support industrial growth. A feat that has never been attained by any governor in Nigeria.
Alex Otti’s re-election is never in doubt but a sure bet. As I always say, “Alext Otti’s Ambition is not A Personal Ambition but rather A Commitment to Development”.
When the LORD turned again the captivity of Abia State, Abians were like them that dream. Then was our mouth now filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing praises to Dr. Alex Otti: Indeed the LORD hath done great things for us by giving us Dr. Alex Otti; Whereof we are glad.
