Abia Oppositions and the fear of a repeat of 2023 colossal defeat

By Njoku SaintJerry A.

The coward die 7 times before his final annihilation, reason is; he is ruled by fear, anxiety and in most instances by his own deficiencies, what he cannot achieve he exerts enough energy to destroy and in so doing, he destroy himself.

Mckenna, a budding thinker wrote; “There are those among us who are driven by anger and destruction and I add, anger and somewhat jealous at what they had missed the opportunity to prove their mettle only to cringe at individuals who had perhaps meekly climbed the saddle to outshine the predecessors.

They are hyper-critical, resentful, and quick to spot the errors of the man who had taken the shine off their ignorance and failures, most importantly, their deficiencies.
In South East Nigeria, Abia State or what we have come to understand as the ‘New Abia’ these characters abound, they pose as oppositional figures, analysts and watch dogs of the Governor Alex Otti’s Labour party government.
As much as they’re outside the box and shut out from the till, everything is wrong, there is no ‘New Abia’, the government is a failure, Otti has achieved nothing tangible, nothing serious in the state to equate the FAAC received from Abuja and so much heated energy all exerted on the man that has brought in so much joy, relief and new life to the Old Abia that was ran aground in filth and shame by these same rogue characters when they had the opportunity but squandered it with pigs.

Without making a mountain out of anthill, the entire onslaught against the man leading the total reconstruction of the old Abia drives down to one purpose. ‘Take him out, make way for the till, the public purse, let’s revel in the memories of the past.’

Do they mean any good? We all know how these things work, We all know these people. These angry critics in the guise of oppositions and beer parlour bench analysts, Quick to criticize, slow to praise or none.
Make no mistake, the Governor, H.E. Alex Otti is no saint and never had he at any occasion mounted a podium to absolve himself of the limitations and weakness of the average humanity not even in politics – in one of his popular statement Otti had declared and I walled it;  “Our government does not lie, we are here to work for the people, we can make mistakes and when we do, we admit it because we are humans and human beings are not infallible, the difference is, our mistakes are mistakes of the heart not of the head.” – end of quote.

Much said; Is there any difference between the Abia today, “The New Abia” and the Abia of yesterday under the previous administration since 1999 till our government took over the reins of leadership, the answer is left to the critic and Mr. and Mrs Opposition fancy talker, if for once you will be sincere to yourself, the Umuahia capital city you see today, is it better than yesterday or worse, the Enyimba city, the pride of Abia State you see today, is it better than yesterday or worse.

These are simple questions of ABC and clear sight of black and white and to you Mr and Professor Analysts, the academic from the University and the Diaspora and political analysts, we, the enthusiasts of the New Abia maintain, would any of you had done any better, at least for the past 23 years of waste and neglect that you bungled the opportunity to rebuild and make South East commercial capital a center of attraction like we have done under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti and Labour party.

I do understand figures and sure can read analytic spreadsheets, likewise many citizens will do, and more, I and many ordinary Abians are stubbornly glued to the scene, the ‘New Abia’, who wants to take it back to the Old order? Under which political party or social affiliations?, we are very much concerned as those who have suddenly found sport in laying claims to what they can do, of course by campaign and political rhetoric and academic analysis for another sordid Abia in their warped dreams.

‎Take for instance the teacher of Development Economics, Professor Nnamdi Nwaeze, whom the Oppositions has made headlines of his recent statement on Governor Otti, he might be right, at least he owns his opinion and he was sincere to admit, “I never supported Governor Otti in the 2023 elections and I feel no regrets about that decision” – That said; if you had supported a repeat of the old Abia of disorder, fraud and dirt and economic backwardness how can you now support the government of the New Abia, that has shamed and humiliated the old order –  that’s unrealistic.

It’s a common fear, what you can’t achieve you’ll take delight in pulling it down, and I can feel so much force exerted from every corner to pull down and destroy the gains of the New Abia. You criticize that which has been built whereas you built nothing when you all had the golden opportunity to do so, you want to tear down that which has been built under the government of the New Abia, yet if we Abians chose to push harder among these pumpkin heads we will find out they have nothing for the future.

As Mckenna quoted “They claim to be outraged on behalf of the oppressed, say the Abia people, the ordinary people that had been impoverished and deprived for over two decades while their spirit is cold ruthless” They condemn and explain away the aim of their criticism, say, it is for accountability and transparency but when the time comes, they would rather talk than walk, we have all been there before and we do not want to return to that old cow dung and garbage hill of Aba-Port Harcourt Road
This is the government of the New Abia and we are about to repeat the victory march of 2023 for the state that is built on God’s purpose for his people.

Thank you
