No easy road to Arochukwu; Otti breaks the jinx, ends decades of nightmare to road users

Njoku SaintJerry A.
There is a popular saying among the Igbo people that “There is no easy route to Arochukwu” a satire depicting the abject lack of basic infrastructure as a motorable road to that age old community of History Makers in South East, Nigeria, Abia State, despite all the presence of prominent wealthy politicians who have served in several governments for the past decades

With the commissioning of Omenuko Bridge, one of the signature projects of Governor Alex Otti and the adjoining 30 Kilometers Amuvi–Ndi Okereke, Abam Road leading to Arochukwu, every acclaimed superstition, every juju holding the bridges from being rebuilt, every acclaimed spiritual manipulations that previous Abia politicians has used to deceive the residents and citizens of Abia State in the past has been proved non-existent, manipulative and outright fraud that all the previous government for almost 30 years of the creation of Abia State had used to keep the region underdeveloped and the people impoverished

From this date, the demystification of that infamous phrase has come to an end. There is an easy road to Arochukwu at last, neatly paved and lined up at both ends with Solar electricity Poles flanked by rich vegetation and community of hardworking farmers.

During the campaign, we barged through this same road bathed in dust until you need to switch your wipers on to clean the windshield of dusts that has overwhelmed the vehicles – The then candidate of our great Party, the Labour Party, now the people’s governor had led in that dreadful but bold procession and I had wondered how governors upon governors of Abia State including members of the National Assembly of Arochukwu LGA origin were comfortable seeing their own region and their own people in such sordid and shameful environmental situation and were never bothered, everything in this area approaching the Omenuko bridge coming from Umuahia and diverting to the dead end dusty road leading to Arochukwu was like a movie scene shot in 1917.
Today, all that is history, Credit to the Labour Party Government under the leadership of H.E. Governor Alex Otti, Arochukwu is back and reconnected.

This is governance at its best and I doubt who is not proud of such quality infrastructure development emerging virtually from every corner of Abia State today.

Every facility that will bring business and development back to this community of history makers have been reconstructed and some for the first time in over 30 years and today in less than 1 hour, you can commute from Umuahia the capital city to Arochukwu, a journey that will in previous years take over 5 hours, sometimes even navigating through Akwa Ibom State, all in a bid to connect to Arochukwu making the journey to Arochukwu almost an unpredictable attempt.

Governor Otti has rewritten history through performance, a history that will be told for years, a history groomed out of sheer neglect and the failure of previous governors and every political office holders from Abia North especially in Arochukwu whom have in every way contributed to that falsehood and shameful slogan of “No Easy Road to Arochukwu”. This is beyond road construction, this is rebirth of the new Arochukwu under the Labour Party government led by H.E. Gov Alex Otti

From today, the nightmare of yesterday is history, as visitors and Arochukwu, Abam indigenes join the governor and his team in commissioning these life reviving projects opening unhindered access to Business and active community life.

This is what you get when the people unanimously chose their leader without the usual undue political manipulation and electoral fraud, Otti has proven beyond every doubt that quality governance and development of our environment is not rocket science as he continue to rebuild, one after the other those basic infrastructures Abians had considered near impossible for the past 24 years of previous governors.

Welcome to the New Abia under a performing governor!
Forward Ever!
