If you’re a lover or supporter of the New Abia, don’t worry yourself or get worked up over the activities of the Opposition. That’s the beauty of democracy.
They saw in the Original Report where it was clearly and conspicuously stated that the sum of 12 million naira is for PHOTOCOPIER and other ITEMS. Ordinarily, the other items which include furniture and others would have been listed one by one, but budget report is never done that way.
The 210 million naira was also originally captured and published as budget for the rehabilitation of buildings/office quarters in the Abia Loqson Office Lagos.. The full reconstruction of the Abia Lodge is expected to cost up to 3 Billion Naira to bring it to standard, but that’s not a priority to the government now, given the enormous challenges confronting the state, hence the decision to carry out partial renovation.
A fair-minded opposition would have known and accepted that having published the 12million naira and 210 million naira respectively for their real purposes, the second appearance of the sum of 210m, this time around in the space earmarked for the Photocopier was an error, and that it happens in accounting.
Having said that, I must also acknowledge that it is not the job of the opposition to tolerate your mistake or even forgive your errors no matter how tiny, so we accept and welcome the intentional akpor.
The Opposition needs to be reminded that no figure is published on the Abia Website under duress from any quarters, which means that the government cannot be indulging in malfeasance and still go ahead to publish same.
