“Nobody from this region should take Ben Kalu, Uzoh Kalu and other law makers of Abia North constituency serious in all their claims of political sagacity and love for the people until the road leading to their community and constituency begin to show clear evidence of their ‘acclaimed’ love for the people of Abia”
The last time I heard Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu, Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representative brag on his political might was in his echo of ‘Number 6’ and his recent struggle to establish his ‘Renewed Hope Partners’ project in the South East beginning from his rural community in Bende.
Here in Abia State, it is obvious, Ben Kalu, no doubt, has definitely exerted so much energy on his political relevance in the ruling APC at the center, occupying the Number 6 position in the hierarchy of Nigeria’s political influence and that is where it appears the confusion begins as the Deputy Speaker struggles between political positioning and rhetoric to tell everyone that cares to listen how he is going to ‘deliver’ Abia State to his political party, APC in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
Unfortunately, Ohafia-Bende Road, the only road from Umuahia leading to Rt. Hon Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, Fed. House of Assembly and the ‘acclaimed’ Number 6 strong man in Nigeria political power holding is in a very sorry situation and has remained so as long as Hon Kalu has remained in the circle of Nigeria politics at the center.
If there is anything to test Ben Kalu’s seriousness in governance with his political rhetoric and oratory on how he is going to take Abia from the working Governor Alex Otti of Labour party and hand it over to APC, Ohafia-Bende Road signifies signs of colossal disappointment for anyone that believes in Hon. Ben Kalu new lyrics of APC for Abia.
This is just about a 40 Kilometer road that runs from Umuahia second Tower until it begin to snake down through rural communities to Ben Kalu’s residence, where the much he has managed to do was constant patching of potholes that wears off at the sign of every showers.
No doubt, Hon. Ben kalu has made some efforts for his time in government especially for his rural Bende community with his ongoing Solar Farm project but leaving Ohafia-Bende road in that deplorable situation as it is today, as a Federal Road directly under his jurisdiction is a slap on his hyped echo of political influence and relevance.
With the positive footprints of Governor Alex Otti, Abia State do not appear to have the need for this kind of politicians that are good at sweet talking the suffering people of the community into wearing of China imported Orange T-shirts and Face Cap only to sing the ‘Renewed Hope’ anthem while Hon Ben and his Hallelujah Choristers goes to Abuja to collect their paycheck from the supreme ruler of APCised Nigeria.
As a matter of urgency, it has taken a member of Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke (Etiokwe) Representing Ohafia South State Constituency to bring the deplorable situation of the road that runs across Ben Kalu’s residence in Bende LGA towards Ohafia to the floor of the State House, pleading for emergency intervention from the State Government on the Deplorable State of the Umuahia Bende Arochukwu Ohafia Federal Road, while Hon.Ben Kalu has been actively busy rebuilding his palatial residence perhaps to suit his number 6 status in the country.
This calls for immediate action; especially for all Abia North law makers at the center including Senator Orji Uzo Kalu as this is the only road leading to the 3rd emerging city in Abia State after Umuahia and Aba.
It is important to note that the Alex Otti led Labour party government has already broken the jinx in this route and brought temporary relief with his reconstruction of the ancient dilapidated former death trap called ‘Omenuko bridge’ with a befitting structure leading to Arochukwu / Ohafia Constituency and if anyone should take the duo of Ben Kalu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu serious in their campaign of political juggernaut and relevance at the center under the ruling APC, let their relevance begins from their homeland, from the rural communities they have abandoned for ages to rot only to come here to deceive the ordinary residents and suffering road users with their campaign propaganda of ‘aligning with the center’
If you are sincere with your new found love for Abia state and its residents, so much that you would like to ‘Grab power and run with it for your APCised center’ If you are sincere and has any conscience for the plight of the road users, residents and for the people of your community in Bende, Ohafia and Arochukwu whom are direct recipients of your acclaimed political relevance, the Federal Road that runs across your residence, connecting your constituents to the State should serve a beginning point of your sincerity and commitment to the welfare of your constituents and development of the State, otherwise nobody from this region should take Ben Kalu, Uzoh Kalu and other law makers of Abia North constituency serious in all their claims of political sagacity and love for the people until the road leading to their community and constituency begin to show clear evidence of their ‘acclaimed’ love for the people of Abia for long stay in the politics of the state.
