The IAS-6100 Analyzer Resolves Challenge Africans Face In Accessing Instant Laboratory Test

In the 1960s, Africa was a major player in the global palm oil market, with Nigeria holding a significant share. Today, its share has dramatically fallen due to factors like neglect of the sector and lack of investment in modern farming, processing and lack of testing facilities.

Many African countries, like Nigeria, now consume far more Palm Oil than they produce, leading to a large deficit. Nigeria’s import bill for Palm Oil was reported as $420 million in 2023.

In 2023, Nigeria exported only $2.27 Million of Palm Oil, making it the 69th largest exporter of Palm Oil (out of 150) in the world. During the same year, Palm Oil was the 141st most exported product (out of 1,096 products ) in Nigeria. In 2023, the main destinations of Nigeria’s Palm Oil exports were: United States ($617k), Ghana ($492k), Niger ($464k), Canada ($370k), and United Kingdom ($166k).

The fastest growing markets for Palm Oil exports from Nigeria between 2022 and 2023 were: Ghana ($460k), Niger ($353k), and United States ($167k).

One major factor that has contributed to the African apathy towards Palm Oil production and Export is the lack of testing facilities for Oil Palm products due to the high cost of settling up Laboratories and the recurring purchase of Chemical reagents used for testing for the Basic parameters of Oil Palm products namely; Free Fatty Acids (FFA), Iodine Value (IV), Moisture/Impurity Content and Deterioration of Bleaching Index (DOBI) for the purposes of quality control by the local producers of Oil Palm products in Africa who may wish to export.

*The Challenge:*

Producers would send samples to international inspectors and it will take weeks to months for the results to be ready as they would have to send the samples to their laboratory facilities in Europe for analysis at the cost of between $1000 – $2000.

Most International Buyers of crude or refined palm oil would basically ask for Free Fatty Acid (FFA), Iodine value (IV), Deterioration of Bleaching Index (DOBI) and Moisture/Impurity content but our local producers are not able to wait for long for the International Inspectors to come up with their results which International Buyers would rely on to transact. This is very discouraging for our local producers of Oil Palm products.

*The Solution Is IAS -6100 Analyzer By IAS Global Pte Ltd*

IAS Global Pte Ltd, specializing in spectral analysis technology, including Near-Infrared (NIR) Analyzers for quality control in industries has just launched IAS-6100, a portable All-in-one NIR Analyzer which has the capacity to analyze Oil Palm products including Palm Fruits, Palm Nuts, Palm Kernel, Crude Palm Oil (CPO), Crude Palm Kernel Oil (CPKO), Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Kernel Oil (RBDPKO), Palm Kernel Cake (PKC), Palm Fiber etc for Free Fatty Acids (FFA), Iodine Value (IV), Moisture/Impurity content and Deterioration of Bleaching Index (DOBI). These basic parameters required by international buyers can be analyzed in just 2 minutes using the IAS-6100 NIR Analyzer. The machine does not require Chemical reagents unlike conventional laboratories which must use Chemicals in their course of Analysis.

Below are the eye popping features of the IAS-6100 NIR Analyzer.

• It’s Portable, weighing only 9 Kilograms excluding its accessories.

• No Chemical Reagents required to carry out tests.

• Free portable rechargeable battery

• Free network card

• Free 3-in-1 touchpad/ Built-in USB thumb drive/Pen

• Optional portable printer

• Printer Interface – to connect thermal printer

• Ethernet Port – ready to be connected to laptop

• Touchscreen feature

• No annual subscription fee

• ROI in a few months

• Auto self-check and self-wavelength calibration.

With the portable IAS-6100 NIR Analyzer, the Oil Palm industry in Africa and indeed in the World will be revolutionized. I therefore urge Governments in Africa and Nigeria in particular to set up Oil Palm products testing centers to deploy this IAS -6100 ‘wonder analyzer machine’ to their Oil Palm products testing centers which will indubitably assist producers of Oil Palm products to achieving their dreams of contributing to the GDP of their Nations. Let us help to break the jinx holding our local Palm Oil producers from earning the top dollar from Oil Palm products export.

Corporate organizations can support Oil Palm farmers and producers by establishing testing centers where products of Oil Palm can be analyzed and the results obtained simultaneously in 2 minutes using the IAS-6100 NIR Analyzer.

Let’s come together to explore the Oil Palm Industry to its full effect on the African economy.
