INEC 2019; OUK and the rest of us
The race to Abia North Senatorial Zone
"The Igbo political stock is a weak appendage to established political systems in Nigeria; Dr. Kalu has such capacity to create an alternative fall back platform"
Mr. Njoku, a media executive and expert on China-Africa relations and Cultural Diplomacy said this in an interview with homebasenews correspondent. “We are not a diaspora association that is only visible on print media speaking from the comfort of their regions. Far from that, during the 2015 General elections, we were on ground at all center of activities, we participated massively both at the federal level and at the state level, we enlightened and mobilized voters and engaged the media appropriately. I myself visited Nigeria more than four times within the year to make sure that our people were properly represented. The evidences are all there.
At the state level, we recorded victory with Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu as the newly elected governor of Abia State only to be disappointed at the Senate with the manipulations of the electoral results against Dr. Orji Uzo Kalu (OUK)
Reason is, we are not a political group neither are we engaged into partisan politics, what we do is provide a platform of association of influence to position individuals with the right portfolio and programmes that will usher desired development that is beneficial to all. Then we encourage our people to participate in the voting process to make sure the right candidate mount the rostrum of leadership.
Our primary interest is to initiate practical development in our homeland therefore when the wrong people are smuggled into place of authority; we will continue to wallow in this deprivation we find ourselves today. Our situation in Abia north today is simply very discouraging and we want that to stop. Beyond that, The South-East political caucus has suffered an abysmal representation in the new Nigerian democratic dispensation since the demise of political class like the late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo and co., a replacement in that category or even better remains the youthful Dr. OUK.
Unfortunately this man has been so vilified even by people who has directly benefited from his political tutelage.
In him, the South-East stock was going to gain political mileage but it was lost at the end of his two terms as governor of Abia state when he made his first an attempt at the Presidency followed by a second attempt at the Senate.
Now another opportunity has emerged for the youth and anybody who earnestly pursue true development and people are playing politics of the belly at this bad time – Let me remind you, the politics of the belly is politics of poverty and wretchedness and that is what Abia North senatorial zone will get if they vote the wrong individual into any position of authority again.
We have suffered so many setbacks in virtually everything, orchestrated by previous wrong individuals manipulated into the senate or into the governorship against the wishes of the people and this should stop.
This is why we are here again to drum support for the right leader into the Senate to speak for not only our people but to represent justice and equity for the South East at the Federal level. To represent true development for this region and not those who will continue to make a mockery of the intelligence of the average Igbo man at a time it matters most.
Our men are in the forefront sensitizing the youth by every means necessary and you can tell from the hardworking of OUK and in his doggedness that this is the kind of leadership this region should vote for and not those who will take advantage of the people’s underprivileged economic situation to amass riches that do not influence any advantage to the communities.
For those who may not know, OUK has toured the entire nook and crannies of Abia North senatorial zones including farmlands irrespective of whatsoever risk portrayed as a result of lack and failure of previous administrations to address the painful situation suffered by these regions whom have been deceived for too long.
I have a picture of "Road Commissioning Ceremony of Arochuwku - Ohafia road as a completed project by the former senator and governor, this same road that looks like a link to hell on earth today. That was the extent of deception of people of these senatorial zone and that has to stop and will only stop if on the next election date, everybody of voter’s age go all out to cast their vote for the right candidate.
Situations in the entire Abia north is not commendable at all, over 50 kilometer of roads are cut off, unfinished projects littered everywhere, we have been deceived too long both at the federal level and at the state.
Opportunity to help ourselves has emerged again and we encourage all Abians not to miss these wonderful open doors to put the right person to work. OUK relationship with the ruling party and influence in Abuja in addition is a key influence that should serve as a spring board for all and sundry to walk the talk this time for our collective community and socio-political improvement
In Dr. Kalu, we see a leader for not only the Abia north but for the entire Igbo political caucus and a representation of the Nigerian youth worthy of characters to emulate. Here is an astute businessman with proven record and down-to-earth individual to relate with.
His election into the senate will give every indigenes in the Abia North Senatorial zone the privilege of access to question the quality of governance and treatment given to this region at the federal level- Is it not appalling that we have men in the red chamber who most indigenes do not even know if they exist, apart from the likes of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who have on many instances represented the voice and yearnings of the South East beyond his primary boundary of jurisdiction, it might behooves us to know that Senator Abaribe is a product of the OUK political tutelage and there are about 45 of such senators active in the Nigeria government today whom were direct beneficiaries of the OUK business empire and political ideology.
It is disturbing that we haven't heard any senator from the south-east stock made any responsible representation at the Senate-sometimes you ask why and how did this men get there.
You see issues to be addressed on behalf of the people you claim to be representing and no one is talking or making an attempt to raise a finger at least but continue to enjoy free air-condition and free food at the people’s expense-I do not think the red chamber is meant for lazy politicians, this is the impression many of the members of the senate of the South-East stock are giving us at the moment.
Of a certain he has made mistakes in the past OUK himself admitted, during his tenure as governor, he made mistakes as a young governor, mind you he was coming from the business angle and this was politics-Nigerian peculiar politics at that, so there was a new verse of relationship with the people to learn unlike when he was in business.
Let's not embellish the man OUK with empty rhetoric, the facts are there to prove.
We in the Diaspora invest our money and time where we see a light about to shine because we believe in this man and we know him to deliver-it is extreme poverty and depravity to begin to pursue politicians here and there to collect money from them and sing their praise even when you know they are evil, you continue to fool yourself because you will suffer in the end- that is what has brought us so much neglect in Igboland today-as long as many of us are bent to return home, we want that to stop.
As a businessman who has invested so much in the people and in motherland Whenever he visits China he do not hide from his people compared to other government officials whom I have been privileged to play host in most cases, in our first meeting even before he set eyes on us as a group, I called his Chinese host to speak with him, without having met me in person, he released to me all his private phone contacts both home and abroad-Many of our members were surprised to see such a Nigerian “big man” to be so ordinary and down to earth with the people, this particular behavior endeared him to our hearts, when the Chinese host wanted to act beyond decorum, OUK cautioned him; he said; these are my brothers and he insist on communicating with us – now the opportunity has come for us all to enjoy this democratic dispensation through this youthful charismatic leader, should you or anyone frustrate that? - That will be evil.
In the early days of this same democratic dispensation, every Nigerian of voting age will remember the maddening abuse of power at the federal level, the case of Chris Uba against the Anambra people, the victimization of Wabara, the late Okadigbo, or anyone who did not kowtow to ignorance and servitude even against his own conscience – it was only OUK that stood his ground even at the cost of businesses he has established long before many of these politicians began making money off the hardworking innocent people of Nigeria. Today, we search for such men among the South East politicians and found one in our own OUK.
Should anyone in his real sense let such opportunity slip off-that will amount to destroying your own chances and we will not support that.
This is why are drumming support for OUK - a renowned philanthropist whose businesses are benefitting many in the south east, you can imagine when given the opportunity to do more. Many of these politicians you run around with do not have any single viable business apart from taking advantage of the ignorance of the poor people to steal from them.
Therefore I encourage every Abia state indigenes especially those from the Abia North senatorial zone to not allow this wonderful opportunity to groom a leader from the south east, whose knowledge of the Nigerian political system is much required to salvage the weakening South-East political bloc. The Igbo political stock is a weak appendage to established political systems in Nigeria, and OUK has such capacity to create an alternative fall back platform. This is the more reason why his presence in the Senate is paramount and should be voted for by all well-meaning individuals of Abia state origin.
